What My Son's Disabilities Taught Me About 'Having It All' - The Atlantic

Hello readers, friends and family,
this is a fantastic article about what it means to "have it all" when faced with difficulties.
I haven't written for a while for I have been lacking motivation. The summer is almost over and I look at the new school year with anxiety. Zoé will be facing new sets of challenges, and she and I will both need to readjust to our "new routine", with new sets of therapies, busy schedules, two schools, swimming, OT, PT, Speech, Horse therapy, Pelvic Floor therapy, etc.
Actually, on this last note I think I ought to share what Pelvic Floor Therapy means. As you all know, Potty Training is the hardest thing we have been facing yet, and I was willing to climb Mount Everest if that meant that we could all make it work. Thank goodness, I didn't have to go that far nor that High as I found a nice PT who focuses on Pelvic Floor Therapy.
She is helping Zoé "FEEL" her bowels, tickling her anus to see if there is little muscle movement, and then using a sticky probe to have Zoé blow out to make her abs work so that she can learn to feel and push. We have started using Potty Charts and so far we are seeing improvement. The climb is still ahead and much more will need to be done, but hopefully we will manage to have Zoé potty trained in the coming months.
We are leaving for France on Saturday, and will keep yu ou posted upon our return.
We hope you enjoy what is left of the summer.
Much love from our side of The Bay and see you in September!
